Smith named All-Louisiana First Team

NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Nicholls State University men's basketball team received another postseason honor as senior forward Diante Smith was named All-Louisiana First Team, announced Wednesday by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA).

A native of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Smith was an All-Southland, All-SLC Tournament, and All-Region honoree in his lone season with the Colonels. He ranked fourth in the Southland in scoring at 16.0 points per game and saved his best scoring effort for the championship game where he poured in a career-high 33 points against McNeese. Smith was not only a prolific scorer, but he ranked second in steals in the SLC, 10th in rebounding, and 11th in assists.

A Louisiana Sports Writers Association panel of media and sports publicists selected the All-Louisiana team, based on statistics and performances through the teams' conference tournaments.
