Rima Announces 2024 Volleyball Slate

THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University volleyball head coach Jonea Rima announced the 2024 schedule that features 27 games across five states.
 
The Colonels will compete in three non-conference tournaments in three different states. The team will open the season at the Alabama State Invitational in Montgomery, Alabama (Aug. 30-31) where they will battle South Carolina State, ULM and the host Hornets.
 
After that the Red & Gray will travel to Itta Bena, Mississippi to face Grambling and Mississippi Valley State (Sept. 6-7) in a tournament hosted by the Devilettes.
 
Nicholls will play its home opener inside Stopher Gym against Alcorn on Sept. 9 before heading north to Cookeville, Tennessee to compete against Tennessee Tech, Radford, and West Georgia in a tournament hosted by the Golden Eagles (Sept. 13-14).
 
After hosting Southern (Sept. 17) and playing at Grambling (Sept. 19), the Red & Gray will open Southland Conference play on Thursday, Sept. 26 against HCU before finishing the month at Northwestern State on Sept. 28.
 
The Colonels will open October with a home contest against UNO (Oct. 3) before a three-game road trip at McNeese (Oct. 8), Southeastern (Oct. 10), and UNO (Oct. 12).
 
Nicholls will return home briefly for a contest against UIW. The unit will then cross state lines to battle Texas A&M- Corpus Christi (Oct. 24) and new league member UTRGV (Oct. 26).
 
The Colonels will begin a three-game home stand on Halloween against Southeastern before welcoming Texas A&M – Commerce (Nov. 2) and McNeese (Nov. 5) to Thibodaux.
 
The final road trip of the season will be across state lines against Lamar (Nov. 7) and returning league opponent Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 9), who was a member of the SLC from 1984-2018.
 
The Red & Gray will finish the regular season at home against SFA (Nov. 14) and Lamar (Nov. 16). The 2024 Southland Conference Volleyball Tournament will be held on Nov. 21-24 in Hammond.
