THIBODAUX, La. – The Southland Conference announced Friday the women's basketball schedule for the 2024-25 season as the Nicholls State University Colonels prepare for year two under
Justin Payne.
The Red & Gray will open league play by hosting Southeastern (Dec. 18) and UNO (Dec. 22).
The Colonels are the only school that will open the new year with four consecutive road contests. First, the unit will cross state lines to take on Texas A&M-Commerce (Jan. 2) before returning to the boot to play Northwestern State (Jan. 4). After that, they will play at UIW (Jan. 9) and at McNeese (Jan. 11).
Nicholls will return home to host the defending league champions Lamar (Jan. 16) and returning league opponent Stephen F. Austin (Jan. 18), who was a member of the SLC from 1984-2018.
The Colonels' longest road trip will be Jan. 23 to battle new SLC foe UTRGV in Edinburg, Texas, followed by a road contest at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Jan. 25).
After the long trip across state lines, the Colonels will play four consecutive home games. First the unit will play HCU (Jan. 30) then open the month against McNeese (Feb. 1). The following week the Red & Gray will host Northwestern State (Feb. 6) and Texas A&M-Commerce (Feb. 8).
Nicholls will play at UNO (Feb. 13) and Southeastern (Feb. 15) before hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Feb. 20) and UTRGV (Feb 22.)
The Colonels will conclude regular season action at Lamar (Feb. 27) and at SFA (Mar. 1).
