NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Nicholls State University cross country teams began the season with a strong showing at the Battle for New Orleans on Friday afternoon. In the action from Lake Oaks Park, the women's squad finished fourth (117) while the men placed fifth (142).
The Red & Gray had five runners finish within the top 40 out of 94 total competitors in the women's 4K. The unit was led by
Maria Nikolaou who placed 17th with a time of 15:32.24.
Issy Rivault (15:41.13) and
Kassidy Besson (15:45.66) finished shortly after to place 23rd and 24th.
Lotte Aerts (16:28.58) and
Isabelle Seijhouwer (16:42.29) finished 33rd and 34th while
Avery Guidry posted a time of 17:00.10 to place 39th .
On the men's side, the Colonels had five runners finished within the top 50 out of 93 total participants in the 5K. The squad was spearheaded by
Lucas Futey who posted a time of 15:49.28 to place 20th.
Brady Sins (16:06.20) and Ty Frazier (16:45.07) placed 29th and 39th while
Goran Duijsters (17:23.78) and
William Bellina (17:29.85) finished 46th and 49th .
