FRISCO, Texas - Following a career night and an impressive shooting display from behind the arc for the week, Nicholls State University men's basketball guard
Robert Brown III has been named Southland Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday morning.
Brown connected on 14 three-pointers at a 67 percent clip in the Colonels' two wins, averaging 26.5 points and 5.5 rebounds. In Monday's win at UIW, he made his first nine threes, finishing 9 of 10 for a career-high 37 points to go along with seven rebounds. He also made 6 of 6 from the free throw line with four coming in the final minute to help stave off a late rally by the Cardinals. Brown's 37 points are the most in an SLC game this season.
A native of Albany, New York, Brown followed up with 5 of 11 threes for 16 points in the win over Stephen F. Austin while adding three steals. The victory improved the Colonels' record to 3-0 in home league games.
The weekly honor is the first for Brown who is in his second year with the Colonels. He is the second player to garner Southland POW this season, joining
Michael Gray Jr.
