Ron Frost, the Nicholls State University softball team announced Tuesday its 2025 game schedule which includes 17 contests at Swanner Field.
Nicholls will take part in four tournaments before starting Southland Conference play in early March. The Colonels' home opener is set for Feb. 19 with a doubleheader against Alcorn State.
The season gets underway on Feb. 7 with a trip to Alabama State for the Stinger Classic. The following weekend, the Colonels will play in the I-10 Border Classic, hosted by Lamar and McNeese. Along with playing nonconference games against the host schools, Nicholls will take on Tennessee to close out the event.
After the home opener, the Red and Gray finish up their pre-league portion of the schedule in two tournaments hosted by SEC programs. The LSU Invitational is up first on Feb. 21-23 with two matchups scheduled with the host Tigers, as well as two against Penn State. The final tournament is the Ole Miss Classic on Feb. 28-March 2. Last season, the Rebels swept the Colonels in a doubleheader at Swanner Field.
The rest of the nonconference slate consists of a home-and-home with Southern Miss, a trip to Southern, and a home doubleheader with Jackson State (March 26).
Southland play begins on March 7 with a series at Stephen F. Austin. The Colonels then return home to host UIW starting on March 14. The other league home series are against Lamar (March 28-29), HCU (April 8-9), and Northwestern State (April 17-18).
The Southland Conference Tournament will feature a new format with the top two seeds hosting bracket play from May 1-4. The winner of each bracket will then advance to the championship series on May 8, with the higher seed serving as host.
