THIBODAUX, La. – Following the first weekend sweep of the season, the Nicholls State University baseball team will head to Baton Rouge to take on No.2 LSU (Feb.24) before returning home to battle Tulane (Feb. 25).
 
The first contest against LSU was originally scheduled to be in Thibodaux on Feb. 19 but poor weather conditions forced the game to be rescheduled. Monday's action will be streamed on SEC Network+ (ESPN+) and first pitch from Alex Box Stadium is scheduled for 6 pm.
 
Last week, Nicholls (5-2) fell to Omaha before sweeping Little Rock in a series that saw the Colonels out score the Trojans 19-13. The Red & Gray is hitting .248 this season with nine doubles and two home runs, and the Colonels' pitching staff has registered a 4.55 cumulative ERA.
 
The Colonels' offense has been spearheaded by Karson Irvin who has 10 hits including two doubles and nine RBI while posting a 1.083 OPS. Chase Jans (.300) and Jaden Collura (.300) have been solid at the plate as they have combined for 15 hits and 11 runs.
 
LSU (6-1) is coming off a series win over Omaha. The Tigers took the first contest against the Mavericks before splitting the action in a doubleheader. Tulane (6-1) is coming on a series win over LMU as they dropped the opening game before sweeping the doubleheader.

After battling LSU and Tulane, the Red & Gray will begin Southland Conference action in Lake Charles against McNeese on Feb. 28-March 2.
