THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University football program has set its 2025 schedule which includes five home games on Manning Field at John L. Guidry Stadium, two nonconference FCS matchups and two FBS games against Sun Belt Conference programs.Â
Tommy Rybacki will make his head coaching debut on Aug. 23 as the Colonels host defending Southland champion UIW. The Colonels and Cardinals split the last two meetings in San Antonio, with the winner going on to claim the Southland title. UIW will be making their first trip to Thibodaux since 2022.
The rest of the home slate features West Georgia (Sept. 9), McNeese (Oct. 25), HCU (Nov. 1) and Northwestern State (Nov. 15). West Georgia competes out of the United Athletic Conference and is one of two games for Nicholls against the UAC as they will head to Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 27 in the battle of the Colonels.Â
The Red and Gray are also set to take on a pair of former Southland members -- Troy (Aug. 30)Â and Texas State (Sept. 20). The game with Troy will be the first between the programs since 2001. Nicholls defeated Texas State in four overtimes in their last SLC clash in 2010 but the Bobcats have won the last two in '11 and '19 since moving up to the FBS.Â
For the Southland road games, Nicholls will make trips to Lamar (Oct.4), Stephen F. Austin (Oct. 18), UTRGV (Nov. 8) and Southeastern (Nov. 20).Â
Game times and season ticket information will be announced at a later date.
