THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball team will cross state lines to take on Southern Miss in the Whitney Hancock Classic on Tuesday, March 25.
The action from Kessler Federal Park in Biloxi, Mississippi will begin at 6 p.m. and will be live streamed via ESPN+.
Last week, Nicholls (10-15, 5-7 SLC) did not play a midweek contest and won its weekend series against UIW behind stout pitching and active bats. The Colonels will be facing their third Nationally Ranked opponent.
The Red & Gray offense features three batters hitting over .300.
Jaden Collura (.341) leads the way with 18 RBI on 28 hits including five doubles.
Karson Irvin (.313) leads the team with 22 runs and has 26 hits and 15 RBI while
Chase Jans (.311) leads the team in hits with 32.
In the other dugout, No. 13 Southern Miss (18-6, 5-1 SBC) enters the matchup on a four-game winning streak after beating Ole Miss and sweeping ULM last week.
The Colonels are 2-8-1 against the Golden Eagles dating back to 2006. However, the teams have split the last two meetings including 10 inning, 5-6 Red & Gray victory last year in Biloxi.
