THIBODAUX, La. – After playing a pair of games in Ruston, the Nicholls State University baseball team will return home to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on March 7-9. First pitch from Ray E. Didier Field on Friday and Saturday will be at 6:30 PM while Sunday's action will begin at 1 PM.
Nicholls (5-9, 0-3 SLC) is currently on a seven-game losing streak after a pair of mid-week games against LA Tech where the Colonels did not score a run.
The Red & Gray offense is hitting .220 and is led by
Karson Irvin (.419) who has 18 hits, including three doubles, 10 RBI while scoring nine times.
Jaden Collura (.316) has added 12 hits and six runs.
The Colonels bullpen has 118 total strikeouts features five arms with double figure punchouts.
Alec Sparks (1.71) and
Michael Lindsey (5.65) lead the way with 21 and 16 respectively.
Dalton Hill has 15 while,
Koen van 'T Klooster and
Cole Simoneaux have 14 and 11, respectively.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (6-7) is coming off a mid-week loss at Texas after sweeping Prairie View A&M in a weekend series.
The Islanders' offense is led by Russell Austin who has 12 hits and 14 RBI. Isaac Webb has 14 hits with eight RBI while scoring 11 times. Cade Sanchez leads the team with 17 hits including four doubles. The Islanders have 86 strikeouts as Shea Bryson leads the unit with 14 followed by Zach Garcia (12) and Easten Smith (10).
Nicholls has won six consecutive meetings with the Islanders including the matchup in last season's SLC Tournament. However, the Colonels trail the all-time series 26-17 dating back to 2008.
