THIBODAUX, La. -- Nicholls State University Athletics has extended the contract of head men's basketball coach
Tevon Saddler through 2030, Vice President of Collegiate Athletics & Athletic Director
Jonathan Terrell announced Thursday afternoon.
"Coach
Tevon Saddler has brought tremendous energy, leadership, and vision to our men's basketball program," Terrell said. "His commitment to developing our student-athletes, building a winning culture, and representing Nicholls with pride has been evident from day one. We are excited to extend his contract and continue building on the momentum he has created over the past two seasons."
Entering his third season as head coach, Saddler has already made history in his short tenure by leading the Colonels to back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in school history. Nicholls claimed 13 SLC victories in both campaigns to finish third in the standings before going on to reach the Southland Tournament championship in 2023 and then making the semifinals last season. Additionally, the two seasons under Saddler have included impressive victories over in-state foes including his first career victory at LSU and last season's road win over Louisiana.
Saddler gave his thoughts on the extension and how he wants to continue the programs' success on the bayou.
"I am incredibly grateful to Athletic Director
Jonathan Terrell and President Dr. Jay Clune for their continued belief in me and the vision we have for Nicholls Basketball," Saddler said. "To have my contract extended is a tremendous honor, and I am excited to keep building on our momentum. This extension reflects the commitment this university has to our student-athletes and to building a championship program. I look forward to continuing to lead this team, represent our community, and work every day to elevate Nicholls Basketball."
