MATHEWS, La. - Competing in its final event of the fall season, the Nicholls State University men's golf team had three players earn Top 10 finishes as the Colonels took third in their annual LaTour Intercollegiate at the LaTour Golf Club.
Coming off a fourth-place finish with three Top 20 finishers last week, the Colonels topped that showing with the help of
Kyle Traub,
James Bould and
Jack Moro. Traub, who earned his first career Top 10 in last year's LaTour, shot a 1-under for sole possession of third in the 2026 edition. Bould was a stroke behind with an even, tying for fourth, and Moro placed eighth with a 1-over.Â
Nicholls fired a 9-over 861 to finish 12 strokes ahead of HCU. The Colonels had their best performance of the event in Monday's second round with a 280 but could not catch Southeastern (854) or tournament champion East Texas A&M (846) on Tuesday. The Lions of East Texas won the LaTour last year and added an individual medalist this time as Daniel Ferguson shot 6-under to win by two strokes.
For the Colonels, Traub was steady throughout as he turned in a 71-70-71--212. His 1-under 70 was fueled by five birdies in the round. Bould (213) and Moro (214) had the best rounds for the Colonels, shooting 2-under 69 in the second round.Â
Rounding out the lineup for Nicholls was
Ongsa Booncharn (222) and
Ethan Marx (227).
The Colonels also had three golfers compete as individuals.
Elliot Aucoin shot a 223 to tie for 26th while
Chase Pochylko had a 232 and
Ashton Green was a stroke behind in his collegiate debut.Â
