CHOUDRANT, La. - The Nicholls State University men's golf team finished tied for 11th with an 890 in the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club, posting rounds of 304, 296, and 290 to close the event with its best showing.
Nicholls ended Sunday and Monday in 12th place but was able to shed 14 strokes off their Round 1 score to tie with Louisiana while finishing ahead of Louisiana Tech (B) and New Orleans. Troy won the team title with a -18 (846).
For the second time in as many tournaments this fall,
James Bould led the Colonels as he tied for 43rd at 6-over (222). Bould opened with a 77 before carding an even 72 and a 1-over 73. His even round was fueled by three birdies.
Kyle Traub andÂ
Jack Moro both finished at 8-over (224), aided by one even round each. Traub shot rounds of 72, 77 and 75, while Moro recorded 76, 76 and 72. Moro's final round was highlighted by an eagle on Hole 2.
Ongsa Booncharn carded a 226 after rounds of 80, 71 and 75. His Monday score of 71 was the Colonels' second lowest individual score of the event.Â
Ethan Marx closed the tournament with the Colonels' top performance, firing a 2-under 70 to finish with a 231.Â
