Women’s Hoops set to Host McNeese & Southeastern

THIBODAUX, La. – After four consecutive road games, the Nicholls State University women's basketball team will return home to host McNeese (Feb. 26) and Southeastern (Feb. 28).

Nicholls (12-14, 8-11 SLC) is currently sitting in eighth place of the conference standings after falling to Lamar and SFA last week. The Colonels are two games ahead of HCU with three games remaining for the final spot in the SLC tournament.

The Colonels offense features five players who average at least eight points per contest. The unit is led by Marie Kenebeni and Sh'Diamond McKnight who average 11 and 10.8 points. Tanita Swift (9.8), Jesslynn Jalomo (8.7) and Jasmine Matthews (8.1) round out the bulk of the scoring load.

McNeese (24-4, 18-1 SLC) extended their winning streak to 17 after beating UTRGV and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last week. The Cowgirls are led by a trio of double figure scorers as Dakota Howard leads the way with 12.7 followed by Arianna Patton (11) and Jalencia Pierre (10).

Southeastern (4-22, 3-16 SLC) enters the week on a four-game losing streak after losses to UTRGV and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Lady Lions offense is spearheaded by Aliyah Collins and Lihi Azouri who average 14.1 and 10.5 points per contest.

Earlier this season the Colonels were beaten by 11 by the Cowgirls in Lake Charles before they snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Lady Lions with a three point victory in Hammond.
