MOBILE, Ala. – The Nicholls State University was beaten 4-3 by the University of South Alabama on Stanky Field on Tuesday night.
Nicholls (18-19) fell behind 2-0 early as USA scored on a two-run base knock in the second inning. The Colonels responded in the ensuing inning as
Fisher Ingersoll blasted the first pitch of the stanza to left field.
Casey Artigues doubled before scoring on
Nico Rijo-Berger single up the middle to tie the game.
USA retook the lead on a double in the fourth inning. Following three scoreless frames,
Greyson Shafer tied the game at three with a solo home run to left center field in the top of the eighth. The Jaguars scored the winning run on a two out base hit in the home half of the stanza.
The Colonels had nine hits as Artigues and Rijo-Berger led the way with two hits apiece.

Jaxon Milam, Ingersoll, and Shafer rounded out the offense. The Red & Gray used nine different pitchers as

Shaydon Benson (0.1) and
Karson Trichel (0.2) rounded out the work on the mound.
