HOUSTON, Texas – The Nicholls State University baseball team was beaten 3-0 by Houston Christian on Husky Field on Thursday night.
The game was a pitching duel early as both teams went scoreless in the first four innings. After Nicholls left two runners stranded in the top of the fifth, HCU's offense finally got to starting pitcher
Nuno Parache who allowed two runs on two hits in the frame. One of the runs that was surrendered was after a fielding error that allowed the player to get into scoring position.
The Colonels were retired in order in the top of the sixth, before the Huskies extended their lead with an RBI double off relief pitcher
Eli Waters. The Colonels offense had two base runners the rest of the contest.
Nicholls offense registered five hits as
Carter Jenkins led the way with two hits while
Keegan Giger, Terry Logan and
Jaxon Milam rounded out the Red & Gray offense. On the mound, Parache allowed three hits and two runs in five full innings of work. Waters allowed three hits and had two strikeouts in his lone frame, while
Karson Trichel allowed one hit and picked up a strikeout in two full stanzas.
