Final Stats EUGENE, Ore.  – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team bounced back in day two of the Global Sports Cage Classic with a convincing 83-56 victory against Weber State on Friday afternoon at Matthew Knight Arena.

Four Colonels finished in double figures, led by freshman Jenny Nash with 18 points. Nash, who made her first career start, connected on 8-of-11 from the field with two from long range. Jasmine Hoskins (16 pts, 10 reb.)and Sumar Leslie (15 pts., 10 asts.)had double-doubles for Nicholls, while KK Babin added 15 points.

Nicholls (2-3) led throughout most of the first period and built a 10-point lead (30-20) with five minutes until half. Still up 10 with two minutes remaining, the Colonels went on a 7-0 run with layups from Nash and Leslie, and capped it off on a Nash 3-pointer to make the score 38-21. Nicholls headed into the break up 39-23.

In the second half, Nicholls would not let Weber State (0-5) come within 17 points the rest of the way. The Colonels led by at least 20 points for most of the period as they cruised to the 27-point triumph.

Nicholls shot 45.1 percent (32-of-71) from the field, including 6-of-14 from behind the arc. Babin finished with three 3-pointers while Stacy Lee added one. The Colonels held the Wildcats to just 25 percent (3-of-12) from long range.

Nicholls held a 45-41 edge on the boards, and dished out 19 assists to just 13 turnovers. Alisha Allen paced the interior defense with four blocks.

The Colonels will wrap up play in the Global Sports Cage Classic on Sunday when they take on the host Oregon Ducks. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
