THIBODAUX, La. – Coming off of a 4-0 shutout against the top-ranked scoring offense in the Southland Conference, the Nicholls State University baseball team will turn their attention to a non-conference midweek matchup against Alcorn State at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Ray E. Didier Field.
This past weekend, the Colonels (14-12-1) dropped their first two games against Southeastern Louisiana before a dramatic series-finale victory. Following Sunday's win, junior

The Braves (8-21) have had a rough start to their 2015 season and were handed a 2-1 series loss by Mississippi Valley State in their most recent series.
Nicholls is 23-0 against Alcorn State all-time, including an 8-1 win on May 6, 2014 in Thibodaux. In last year's matchup,
Seth Stevens led the Colonels offensively with a 3-for-4 outing and two RBIs.
David Zorn went 2-for-3 with a run scored and
Christian Correa also scored a run in the victory.
Ryan Deemes was the winning pitcher for the Nicholls in the ballgame, tossing five scoreless innings and allowing five hits with four strikeouts.
Alex Ernestine (1-1) will take the mound for the Colonels, entering the contest with a 5.19 ERA through 8 2/3 innings.
The Braves are set to throw either Jonathan Morales (0-2) or Nick Brooks (0-3) in the ballgame.
Kyle Reese leads the Nicholls offensively, batting .327 with 10 RBIs, 10 runs scored, nine doubles and two triples.
Tanner Vandevere and Correa each have a team-leading 11 RBIs, while
Justin Holt paces the squad with 16 runs.
Collin Carroll spearheads the Alcorn State offense, hitting .312 with a team-high 23 RBIs and 14 runs scored. Scotty Peavey leads the Braves with 21 runs on the year.
The Colonels will host Alcorn State on Tuesday before a three-game home stand against Incarnate Word, with first pitch slated for 6 p.m. on Thursday. All four games will be broadcast live on KTIB 640 AM.
