EL DORADO, Ark. – Senior
Peyton McCulloch shot a 74 in the opening round of the Duck Commander Intercollegiate on Sunday to lead the Nicholls State University golf team in the three-day event.
As a team, Nicholls carded a 314 to place last in the 10-team field. The Colonels trail Louisiana Tech by just two strokes, HBU by five and Southeastern Louisiana by seven. Stephen F. Austin leads after 18 holes with a 294.
McCulloch's 2-over was helped by four birdies on the day. He started the round with a birdie on hole 10 and added three more on the front. He finished Sunday in a tie for eighth place in the individual standings.
Jack Lee also finished under 80, tying for 38th with a 79. Lee started out with five pars before bogeying three straight holes. He shaved a stroke off his score with a birdie on a par 5 on hole 5.
Baker Stevenson shot an 80 and had a pair of birdies, and was followed by
Josh Fullilove (81) and
Albert Badosa-Soler (85).
