MOBILE, Ala. - The Nicholls State University men's golf team wrapped up the month of March by tying for eighth in the Mobile Bay Intercollegaite, hosted by South Alabama at the Magnolia Grove Golf Course.
The Colonels shot an 877 (287-295-295) and tied with Loyola-Chicago, Marshall and Valparaiso for eighth. Of the three Southland schools in the field, Nicholls had the best finish as they were two strokes ahead of New Orleans while HCU shot an 891.
Kyle Traub led Nicholls with a 214 after firing two even rounds. He started with an even 71 in the opening round, shot a 1-over 72 in the second, then followed up with another 71 on Tuesday. Traub finished just outside the top 20 on the leaderboard, tying tied for 24th.
Robert Leo Arnorsson posted the best round for the Colonels, shooting a 1-under 70 in the second round of Monday's action. He finished with a 219 and was followed by
James Bould (224),
Jack Moro (225) and
Chase Pochylko (230).Â
Host South Alabama won the event with an 826 and Jaguar Hugo Thyr took medalist honors with a 199 (-14).
