THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University men's basketball squad continues its four-game home stretch Sunday against the University of Idaho at 6 p.m. inside Stopher Gymnasium.

The Colonels (4-4) are among the nation's best in assists and defensive rebounds per game and scoring offense, ranking among atop the Southland Conference in and in the Top 35 of Division I in all three statistical categories. Nicholls also has several individual superlatives that front the league, including seniors
Lafayette Rutledge (3.9 3FG per game),
Legend Robertin (2.0 bpg) and
Tevon Saddler (34 free throws made), and freshman
Kevin Johnson (3.1 assist-to-turnover ratio).
The Colonels are 2-1 at home this season after being upended 105-80 Monday against Louisiana. Nicholls held a 62-52 advantage at the 16-minute mark in the second half before going cold during a 21-point Ragin' Cajuns scoring barrage. Despite the loss, Saddler tallied a career-high 20 points. Roddy Peters are the team leaders in points and rebounds per game.
The Vandals (4-2) most recently made a trip to Anchorage for the Great Alaska Shootout. Idaho split its first two games, topping Santa Clara 69-59 and falling to CSU Bakersfield 64-62, and won the third-place game against Cal Poly 75-66. Victor Sanders, the Vandals' leading scorer, and Perrion Callandret were named to the all-tournament team as Sanders contributed an event-high 22 points per game. Idaho was chosen to finish first in both the coaches and sports information directors Big Sky preseason polls.
