PATTERSON, La. – After earning co-medalist honors in last year's Atchafalaya Intercollegiate, Nicholls State University sophomore
Jack Lee closed out this year's edition with a 1-under 71 in the final round Tuesday to finish in a tie for ninth on the Colonels' home course at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild.
Lee sank three birdies in the final 18, with two coming on the back nine. He finished the three rounds with a 218 to earn his sixth career top 10 finish.
Peyton McCulloch was next for the Colonels, finishing three strokes behind Lee with a 221. McCulloch shot a 2-over 74 on Tuesday, as did
Chad Watts-Denyes who tallied a 223. Rounding out team play for the Colonels was
Josh Fullilove (227) and
Baker Stevenson (228).
As a team, the Colonels finished in fifth place out of eight teams with a score of 883. After carding a 286 and a 298 in Monday's action, Nicholls shot a 299 to stay in fifth place.
Nicholls had three individuals compete in the event, led by
Albert Badosa-Soler with a 225. Badosa carded a 75 in the final round to finish in a tie for 25th.
Jamison Thomassee finished with a 228 and
Emil Ragnarsson had a 243.
ULM ran away with the team victory, firing an 853 for an 11-under. The second-place team, Central Arkansas, finished 20 strokes behind at 873. ULM also had two players earn co-medalists honors – Hogan Arey and Joao Girao, along with UIW's Jeff Conflitti. All three players shot a 3-under 213 for the tournament.
