LAS COLINAS, Texas – The Nicholls State University men's golf team shot a 309 in the opening round of the three-day Bob Sitton Invitational at the TPC Four Seasons, ending Tuesday in a tie for 22nd place.
The Colonels started out with a strong showing on the front nine, posting a 7-over midway through. But the back proved to be more difficult as they wrapped up with day at 25-over.
"I thought we played really well starting off and we were in good shape through nine, but holes 9-14 hurt us and we slipped back," said Nicholls head coach
James Schilling. "It's not the start that we wanted, but we have two more days to improve.
Albert Badosa-Soler led the Colonels with a 4-over 75, and was followed closely by
Chad Watts-Denyes (76) and
Jack Lee (77). Badosa-Soler and Watts-Denyes both finished with three birdies in the round, and joined Lee with a 1-over after nine holes.
Rounding out team play was
Josh Fullilove with an 81 and
Peyton McCulloch finished with an 84.
The Colonels will begin round two Wednesday morning, with the final 18 scheduled for Thursday. For live results, please click
