LAS COLINAS, Texas – The Nicholls State University men's golf team had a 12-shot improvement from day one to day two, highlighted by
Jack Lee's 1-under 70, to move up five spots in the standing of the Bob Sitton Invitational at TPC Four Seasons.
After Nicholls opened the tournament with a 309, the Colonels had a much better second day with a 297. Only seven teams of the 24-team field posted a better outing for Wednesday than the Colonels.
"The course was very difficult again today. We started out playing well like yesterday, but we were able to keep it going through the entire round this time," said head coach
James Schilling.
Leading the charge was sophomore Lee, who drained four birdies in the round to shoot 70. After posting a 2-over on the front, Lee sank three birdies on the back to go along with six pars to finish the round at 1-under. He ended the day with a two-round score of 147 to tie for 24th out of 120 golfers.
Albert Badosa-Soler was second for the Red and Gray, posting a 4-over 75. Badosa-Soler led Nicholls on the day with five birdies – two on the front and three on the back.
Chad Watts-Denyes and
Peyton McCulloch each shot a 5-over, and
Josh Fullilove finished with an 8-over.
Nicholls will wrap up play at the TPC Four Seasons with the final 18 holes on Thursday. The course, which plays host to PGA Tour event, AT&T Byron Nelson, plays at 6,697 yards and is a par 71.
