Colonels wrap up Day One of Tiger Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo.  – Playing in its final event of the regular season, the Nicholls State University men's golf team shot a 305 and a 309 to complete the first day of the Tiger Invitational at The Club at Old Hawthorne on Monday.
 
The 305 put the Colonels in 12th place out of a total of 18 teams after the first round, but the added four strokes in the second 18 dipped Nicholls to 16th. The team will wrap up play Tuesday morning with the final round.
 
Chad Watts-Denyes led the Red and Gray with a 151 after carding a 75 and 76. Watts-Denyes posted 15 pars in the first round and recorded his only birdie of the day on hole 9 in the second, finishing in a tie for 27th place.
 
Albert Badosa-Soler shot a 153 and posted the best round of the day for the Colonels, carding a 2-over 74 to open the day. Badosa-Soler had a total of seven birdies in the 36 holes, with three coming in the second round. Jack Lee finished two strokes behind at 155, helped by shaving three strokes off his score from the first to second round. Lee birdied four times in his final round to card a 76.
 
Rounding out the competitors for Nicholls were Peyton McCulloch (159) and Baker Stevenson (161).
