COLONEL STORYLINES
The Colonels (21-22, 8-10 SLC) are in a two-way tie for eighth with UNO and face the Privateers in a three-game slate May 12-14.

Junior infielder Gage Teer has five hits in his last 13 at bats (.385). The Brandon, Mississippi, native ranks fourth in slugging percentage (.681) and ninth in batting average (.383) during SLC play. Teer fronts four Nicholls student-athletes batting at least .300 during league play, including senior Juan Givan (.327) and juniors Joey Morales (.303) and Chet Niehaus (.300).

Redshirt senior Mike Hanchar looks to build on his last performance at Southeastern. The 6-5 lefty willed his way through a career-high 8.2 innings and 11 strikeouts, lifting the Colonels to a 3-2 victory.

THE OPPONENT
The Cardinals (25-17, 11-10 SLC) favor extra-bases, ranking second in the league in doubles (81) and home runs (42). Cutter McDowell's 20 doubles ranks atop the Southland and tied for third in Division I. Reid Russell and Trey Silvers have each hit eight homers. Silvers was most recently named the SLC Hitter of the Week after mashing a school-record three home runs in one game against Abilene Christian.

Lamar took two out of three against ACU and has won three of its last four after winning a 3-2 contest against Texas Southern Tuesday. The Cardinals are in sole possession of seventh place in the conference.

SERIES SUPERLATIVE
Despite dropping the last three meetings, Nicholls won four in a row before that including a 2014 sweep in Beaumont.
