BATON ROUGE, La.  – Nicholls State University men's golfer Albert Badosa-Soler used three birdies to shave three strokes off of his first-day score in Tuesday's round of the NCAA Championship Baton Rouge Regional at the University Club.

After carding an 80 in yesterday's action, Badosa-Soler posted a 5-over 77 in his second go-around in the regional. He enters the final round tied for 56th out of 75 golfers at 157 and holds leads over golfers from SEC programs Arkansas and Kentucky, and last year's national champion Oregon.

Badosa-Soler climbed up six spots on the leaderboard despite the wind playing more of a factor in Tuesday's round. He started on the back and tallied pars on the first four holes before bogeying 14 and 15. Following another par, he carded his first birdie of the round on the par-5 17th. On Monday, he was one of only two golfers to eagle the hole.

After recording a double bogey on 18 and two, he got two of the strokes back by sinking birdie putts on three and six – both par 5s. An outstanding chip led to an easy putt on three and he followed up with a short putt on six for his third birdie of the round.

But bogeys and seven and eight put him at 5-over before he closed out the day with a par on nine.

Host LSU's Sam Burns leads the field with a 7-under through 36 holes. The Tigers also lead team play with a 7-stroke lead over Duke.

Badosa-Soler will tee off at on hole 10 at 9:20 a.m. and will be paired with Loyola-Maryland's William Wears for the third time.
