Johnson begins pro career in Germany

THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University senior Jackie Johnson has officially started her professional softball career this week with the Hamburg Knights in Germany.
 
A native of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, Johnson is coming off her best season as a Colonel where she posted a 17-12 record with a 2.51 ERA. She finished the year ranked fourth in the Southland in strikeouts with 144 and also had the third-lowest opponent batting average at .218. Johnson logged 21 starts in 36 appearances and had two saves in 158.2 innings pitched. She was named Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week on March 20 after going 1-0 with a save in the series win at Stephen F. Austin.
 
A three-year starter for the Red and Gray, Johnson accounted for 34 wins in the circle and had a 3.15 ERA in over 400 innings pitched. She wrapped up her career with 345 strikeouts, which ranks sixth on the Colonels' all-time strikeouts list.
