THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball team travels to Russo Park Wednesday to face the University of Louisiana Lafayette in a contest scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Colonels (1-6) are looking to bounce back from a winless weekend at the Kleberg Bank College Classic. Senior shortstop
Joey Morales was named to the all-tournament team after hitting .357 with a team-high four RBIs, all coming against Mississippi State. His game against the Bulldogs was highlighted by a three-run homer in the fifth inning. Sophomore
Dillon Belle made a major impact as a pinch hitter, clobbering a solo homer against Corpus Christi and a two-run double versus UC-Santa Barbara.
On the season, junior infielder
Ethan Valdez leads the club with a .370 batting average, recording at least one hit in six of the first seven games.
The Ragin' Cajuns (2-5) most recently dropped two out of three to Wright State. UL-Lafayette is hitting just .174 on the year with junior outfielder Gavin Bourgeois (.269) fronting the squad.
