THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball team plays against Sacred Heart University Tuesday and Wednesdayon Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field.

The Colonels (1-10) dropped games to Eastern Michigan, Ohio State and No. 16 Southern Miss this past weekend at the Cox Diamond Invitational. Senior shortstop Joey Morales did not play the final two games because of an ejection after a collision at home plate. Morales boasts the team's second-highest batting average (.333) behind junior infielder Ethan Valdez (.341).

Nicholls ranks second in the league with 1.8 doubles per game but has struggled to produce runs with a .248 team batting average.

Senior right-handed pitcher Jake Bedevian will throw on Tuesday. He put together a stellar outing against UL-Lafayette last Wednesday, tossing 6.2 innings while allowing just one earned run on three hits and five strikeouts.

The Pioneers (2-4) went 1-2 in Baton Rouge over the weekend, topping SLC foe Southeastern Louisiana 5-3 before falling to LSU, 7-0, and Toledo, 7-2. Sacred Heart is fronted offensively by Dan Schock, who has a team-high nine hits, seven RBIs, three doubles and two homers.
