Tickets on sale for Colonels-Eagles contest at the Shrine on Airline

METAIRIE, La. – The regional rivalry between the Nicholls State University and University of Southern Miss baseball programs has been renewed as the two will face off at the Shrine on Airline, home of the New Orleans Baby Cakes, at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26.

Fans interested in buying tickets can do so here. Tickets are also available by visiting the Shrine on Airline box office or by calling the Baby Cakes at (504) 734-5155.

"Our players are excited about the opportunity to play at Baby Cakes Stadium," Nicholls Head Baseball Coach Seth Thibodeaux said. "We get to play against a great program in Southern Miss at one of the finest venues in minor league baseball. Our fans usually turn out big in New Orleans, so we hope to see lots of red there that night."

The Colonels are coming off a 28-32 finish in 2018, reaching their first Southland Conference Tournament semifinal since 2011.

"We're excited about and appreciative of this opportunity to showcase our program given to us by the management of the Baby Cakes," Nicholls Athletics Director Matt Roan said. "The Shrine on Airline is a big-time baseball facility and we're hopeful we can paint it red and gray. I'm looking forward to seeing all of our alums in the city and surrounding area show up and watch the Colonels."

Southern Miss enters 2019 as the defending Conference USA regular season and tournament champions, having rolled to a 44-18 record, including a win in the Fayetteville Regional. The preseason league favorite, the Golden Eagles will be appearing at the Shrine for the first time since the 2014 Wally Pontiff, Jr. Classic.
