QUOTE FROM STEFANIE SLEKIS:
NICHOLLS TRACK & FIELD AND CROSS COUNTRY HEAD COACH
It is amazing to watch our 2nd Annual Colonel 5k come together. Our local businesses, alumni, and supporters have really stepped up to help us put on a great 5k race! I can't thank Josh Chauvin, Dr. Laura Chauvin, Jacob Marcell-Scorpion Subsea, and Dr. Michael Marcello-Premier Endodontics enough for their generosity. Their donations have made this event possible and enable every dollar raised to go directly to benefit our track & field and cross country student-athletes.
The Colonel 5k is a huge fundraiser for our team that allows us to go to pre-season cross country team training camp, provide more team meals throughout the year, and additional equipment. One of our big goals for this year is to fundraise enough to purchase our own 15-passenger team van. The Colonel 5k also serves as our spring semester team home event so it will be exciting to see how many community members, alumni, and students we can have participate in the Colonel 5k and have them come out and run or walk and get to know our team. Our team members will be at every corner on the course cheering on our 5k competitors!
