2019 FALL HONOR ROLL
FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State University Athletics saw an increase of 19 selections for the Southland Conference Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll from last year as 80 Colonels were recognized by the league office, it was announced Monday.
Teams included in the honor roll were football, men's and women's cross country, soccer, and volleyball. All student-athletes must have at least a 3.0 GPA to be on the list.
Of the 80 honorees, 15 had perfect 4.0 grade-point averages in the 2019 fall semester. Volleyball had a third of the 4.0s --
Lilly Bivens,
Abigail Bouzigard,
Devon Bright,
Lydia Frederick, and
Emily Venable, as did Women's Cross Country --
Emily Blanchard,
Skyler Goodman,
Willow Johnson,
Elsa Rijpstra, and
Summer Seal. The others were women's soccer's
Jeanne Harson,
Roosa Hurmerinta,
Blaire Laiche, and
Kelsey VanSickle, and football's
Andrew Robison.
Football had the most student-athletes for Nicholls with 30, while volleyball's 14 was the best ranking compared to other teams in the conference, tying for second.
A total of 935 Southland Conference student-athletes were named to the honor roll.
"We are very honored and thrilled to see so many Southland Conference student-athletes continue to achieve academically," league Commissioner Tom Burnett said. "The Southland and its member institutions are focused on both the academic and competitive well-being of these individuals as they each work toward graduation and lifelong success."
