GLADEWATER, Texas - The Nicholls State University men's golf team finished its fourth and final event of the fall by taking ninth place at the Tempest Collegiate, hosted by Texas State at the Tempest Golf Club.
Nicholls shot a 909 for the tournament, edging Houston Christian by a single stroke for 10th. The Colonels also placed ahead of Central Michigan which totaled a 925. Nicholls opened play Sunday with it best round of 298, then followed with a 301 and 310.
Martin Trochu matched his career low of a 71 in the final round to earn his best career finish, tying for 15th out of 63 golfers with a three-round score of 1-over 217. Trochu carded three birdies in the first and second rounds, shooting an even 72 on Sunday, and ended with four birdies in Tuesday's finale.
Ryan O'Neil tied for 34th with a 225, firing rounds of 75-74-76. O'Neil totaled eight birdies for the event and had an eagle on Hole 13 on Sunday.
Jace LeJeune finished with a 234 and had a low-round 75,
Mickael Najmark's 74 helped him to a 239 total and
Peyton Canter's best round was a 76 as he ended with a 240.
Texas State's Tom Røed Karlsen earned the top finish with a 5-under 211 as the Bobcats also claimed the team crown with an 857.
