MATHEWS, La. - The Nicholls State University men's golf team wraps up its fall schedule this week with its home event, hosting the LaTour Intercollegiate at the LaTour Golf Club on Monday (Oct. 23) and Tuesday.
The Colonels return to LaTour for an event for the first time since the spring of 2021. Nicholls and nine other programs -- HCU, Mobile, New Orleans, Prairie View A&M, Southeastern, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas Southern and UIW -- will take on the 7,177 yard par 72 course.
Monday's play will consist of 36 holes with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The final round on Tuesday will be 18 holes, also starting at 8:30 a.m.
Coach
James Schilling is set to have nine Colonels compete in a field of 57 total golfers. The lineup will feature
Chase Pochylko,
Jack Moro,
Mickael Najmark,
Diego Prat Cruza, and
Zachary Morvant. Competing as individuals are
Peyton Canter,
Thomas Danielson,
Collin Jones and
Dylan Weber.
Prat Cruza will be looking to build off a strong showing at the Bubba Barnett Invitational to start October where he posted rounds of 70 and 71. Pochylko has had the top finish for the Colonels this season, tying for 19th at UT Martin's Grover Page Classic in September.
In the previous LaTour Intercollegiate in 2021, the Colonels took 11th after the final round was canceled due to weather.
Martin Trochu led the individuals as he tied for 12th place. Louisiana Tech won the team title and Sam Murphy took medalist honors for the Bulldogs.
