MATHEWS, La. - Freshman
Chase Pochylko shot one-over in the final round of the LaTour Intercollegiate to move up to a tie for 12th place as the Nicholls State University men's golf team wrapped up its fall season with a sixth-place finish in its home event at the LaTour Golf Club.
Battling winds up to 25 miles per hour on Tuesday, six of the 10 teams posted its highest score of the three rounds including Nicholls which turned in a 300 after carding rounds of 283 and 291 on Monday. Pochylko and fellow classmate
Jack Moro, who took 23rd, withstood the elements for 73s in their final 18 holes. Pochylko had four birdies on Tuesday but a double bogey on the front and back kept him out of the Top 10. Moro also had four birdies to go along with five bogeys.
Zachary Morvant shot a 75 on Tuesday to turn in a 221 while
Mickael Najmark and
Diego Prat Cruza fired 79 and 82, respectively. Morvant led Nicholls with six birdies in the final round.
For the individuals,
Dylan Weber shot a 78 for a 225 and was two strokes ahead of
Thomas Danielson overall, who duplicated his effort from Round 2 on the third hole with another eagle and finished at 77 for Tuesday. Overall,
Peyton Canter shot a 230 while
Collin Jones finished with a 233.
Stephen F. Austin secured the team title with a -13 for the event -- six strokes ahead of Southeastern. HCU's Brooks Pawlak took medalist honors at -8 competing as an individuals.
