THIBODAUX, LA. – The Nicholls State University Track & Field program makes a return trip to the Birmingham Crossplex for the 2023 Southland Indoor Championships on Sunday (Feb. 26) and Monday.

Fans can tune in to the Indoor Championships on ESPN+ with coverage starting at 8 a.m. on both days.

Elsa Rijpstra headlines the Colonel women's team and is set to compete in the 3000m and 5000m. She claimed the 5k indoor crown in last season's championship with a 17:25.06. This spring, Rijpstra set a new program indoor mark with a 9:53.89 at the Samford Invitational. 

Maryse Mbenoun also broke a program record in the 600m with a 1:37.03 last month at McNeese.

On the men's side, Amari Godette highlights the squad and is set to run in the 60m and 200m. Godette broke the men's indoor record in the 60 with a 6.82 in the Colonels' opening event at LSU.
