TUNICA, Miss. - Ryan O'Neil and
Braxton Kuntz posted strong showings for the Nicholls State University men's golf team as the Colonels closed out its regular season in the Tunica National Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
O'Neil finished in fourth place out of 71 golfers, shooting a 212--72-67-73 to card a 4-under for the event. Kuntz climbed into a tie for seventh place as he shot a 214--74-74-66 behind a stellar 6-under 66 in the final round. Both totaled 13 birdies in the three rounds.
The duo helped Nicholls to an eighth-place finish. The Colonels improved in each round, firing an 884--304-292-288. Nicholls finished two strokes behind Samford and five behind Oral Roberts. Host Arkansas State and UT Arlington shared the team crown with an 863.
Missouri State's Max Kreikemeier took medalist honors after turning in an 11-under 205.
For the rest of the Colonel lineup,
Mickael Najmark posted a 231 and was followed by
Zachary Morvant (235) and
Martin Trochu (236).
Peyton Canter competed as an individual and shot a 237.

Nicholls will take part in the Southland Conference Championship, starting on Tuesday, April 25. The three-day tournament will be held at the Hyatt Hill Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.
