CHOUDRANT, La. - The Nicholls State University men's golf team wrapped up its season-opening event on Tuesday with the final round of the Argent Financial Classic, hosted by Louisiana Tech at the Squire Creek Country Club.
After knocking off 10 strokes in the second round from Sunday's 315, the team posted a 319 on Tuesday to total a 939. Freshmen
Chase Pochylko and
Thomas Danielson each carded 78s in the final 18 to lead the Colonels.
Pochyklo paced Nicholls for the event with a 229. He turned in the best scorecard for the Red and Gray with a 2-over 74 in Monday's action. He made par on his first nine holes before finishing with his lowest round. Pochylko carded one birdie in each day.
Mickael Najmark and
Thomas Danielson both sank a team-high four birdies for the event.
Zachary Morvant shot a 240 and finished a stroke ahead of Majmark and
Jack Moro, while Danielson totaled a 244.
Three teams tied on the leaderboard with Southern Miss edging UAB and Louisiana in a playoff to earn the title. Middle Tennessee State's Owen Stamper took medalist honors with a 13-under 203.
