Chase Pochylko and senior
Mickael Najmark both posted rounds under par on Monday as the Nicholls State University men's golf team completed 36 holes at the Grover Page Classic, hosted by UT Martin at the Jackson Country Club.
After leading Nicholls with a low-round 74 last week at Squire Creek, Pochylko shot a 1-under 71 in Monday's opening round before turning in an even par 72 in the second to tie for 16th on the leaderboard. He birdied twice in his first 18 holes and added three in the second go-around, and also recorded his first career eagle on the par 5-15th hole.
Najmark bounced back from a 76 in the first round to fire a career best 3-under 69 in the second. He drained six birdies to match his low-round 69 which came in his rookie season on a par 71 course in the Sam Hall Intercollegiate at Southern Miss.
Zachary Morvant carded rounds of 78 and 76, highlighted by two eagles in the second round. Making their Colonel debuts,
Diego Prat Cruza totaled rounds of 79 and 74 while
Collin Jones shot an 83 and 84.
Dylan Weber competed as an individual and shot 75 and 79.
As a team, the Colonels took 13 strokes off their opening-round score with a 291 in the second. They went into the clubhouse leading Tennessee State and Eastern Illinois while trailing New Orleans by 12 strokes.
Nicholls wraps up the tournament on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m.
