MONTGOMERY, Texas - The Nicholls State University men's golf team wrapped up play Tuesday in the Bentwater Intercollegiate with its lowest round of the event with a 307, turning in a three-round total of 930 to conclude its first event of the spring.
Despite the low round, the Colonels finished a stroke behind fellow Southland member Texas A&M-Commerce for last place. Nicholls shot a 309 and 314 in Monday's rounds.
Thomas Danielson paced the Colonels with an 78-75-73--226, placing in a tie for 46th at 13-over. His final 18 holes was highlighted by the team's lone eagle as he carded a 2 on Hole 7. Danielson shot a 3-under on the front 9, helped by two birdies.
Jack Moro shot a 229 and had two solid rounds, carding a 73 in the first and 74 in the third with a combined five birdies.
Chase Pochylko finished with a 235 while
Dylan Weber and
Peyton Canter shot 244 and 245.
Host Sam Houston won the team event by 17 strokes while Bearkat Josh German took medalist honors by two strokes at 7-under.

Nicholls will head to New Orleans in two weeks for Gulf Coast Collegiate, which will be held at English Turn.
