Colonel Golf Opens Spring Slate at Gulf Coast Collegiate

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Nicholls State University men's golf team began its spring portion of its schedule at Gulf Coast Collegiate, hosted by UNO at English Turn, and finished in a tie for 11th place out of 18 teams.

Nicholls had its best round on Monday with a 295, then carded a 300 and 304. With a three-round total of 899, the Colonels tied with New Orleans and finished three strokes behind East Texas A&M for ninth.

Freshman Kyle Traub posted the best finish for the Colonels with a 7-over 223, tying for 35th. He had the lowest score for Nicholls with a 1-under 71 in his opening round before shooting a 74 and 78.

Jack Moro and Peyton Canter tied each other at 225. Moro's eagle on a par 4 highlighted his final round on Tuesday while Canter sank three birdies to finish with an even 72.

Rounding out the lineup were Chase Pochylko (227) and Ethan Marx (238).

ULM won the team title with an 856 while Central Arkansas' Kalle Svederman and Noah Blaickner tied for medalist honors with 212s.

Nicholls will head to Houston for the HCU Colin Montgomerie, starting Monday, March 3 at the Sweetwater Country Club.
