THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's soccer team will begin the 2026 season on the road against Louisiana Tech University in Ruston on Thursday, August 13. Kickoff from Robert Mack Caruthers Field is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the action will be live streamed via ESPN+.
Nicholls enters year three under head coach
Kristy Helmers after winning four contests last season. Despite the overall losing record, the Colonels finished the season with five ties including four in Southland Conference play. Nicholls is 0-8-1 against LA Tech dating back to 2005. The lone tie in the series was a the most previous contest which was a scoreless match in 2024.
The Red & Gray welcome back 14 players including nine who started at least nine contests. Amongst the returners is
Kaylie Harris who led the team with five goals and
Mylea Riggle who added four goals while leading the squad in assists (3).
Cameron Bonadona and
Sammi Doyle return after adding two goals apiece last year. Senior goalkeeper
Aislinn Wright started all 18 games last season and finished with 97 saves and three shut outs in over 1500 minutes.
