THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University soccer team closes the 2018 season with three straight road matches, beginning Thursday at UCA and continuing Sunday at Northwestern State University.

The Colonels (3-12, 1-7 SLC) won their first league game 2-0 over Stephen F. Austin Sunday despite being held to just two shots. Those two goals were scored by juniors Kristy Helmers and Blaire Laiche. Nicholls is currently last in the Southland standings and likely needs two positive results this weekend to stay alive in the race.

The Bears (12-3-1, 7-1 SLC) hold the best record in the league, winning six in a row while outscoring opponents 16-3. UCA fronts the league in assists per game (2.0), points per game (6.8) and scoring offense (2.4). Kristen Ricks ranks atop the SLC with 0.4 assists per contest.

Sunday, Oct. 21 | 1 p.m.

The Lady Demons (8-8, 2-6 SLC) broke a three-match losing skid with a 3-0 victory over A&M-Corpus Christi. Northwestern State will be searching for revenge after falling to Nicholls 1-0 on the Colonels' senior day last season. Nicholls has won two of the last three matchups against the Lady Demons.

NSU ranks atop the conference with 20 shots per game, including 9.8 on goal. Striker Aporil Trowbridge fronts the SLC with 5.7 shots and 0.8 goals per game.
