Final Stats THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball team accumulated 15 hits in a 14-7 victory over Stony Brook University Monday night at Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field.
Seniors
Joey Morales and
Gage Teer fronted the squad with three each followed by seniors
Kyle Knauth,
Lee Clark and
Ethan Valdez and freshman
Dane Simon with two. Simon totaled four RBis and three runs, highlighted by a double that drove home two in the fourth inning.
The Colonels (1-3) trailed 5-0 entering the fourth before Simon's shot down the left-field line and an RBI single by Clark. Freshman
Xane Washington smashed a double down the right-field line to score Morales in the fifth inning. Nicholls trailed 6-4 when its offense came alive for five hits and six runs in the sixth inning.
Junior
Adam Tarver (1-0) picked up the win as he threw 1.1 innings, allowing one earning run on a solo homer by Seawolves (3-1) designated hitter Brandon Alamo. Senior
Cayden Hatcher and redshirt sophomore
Austin Bollinger held SBU scoreless in the eighth and ninth innings, respectively.
Seawolves pitcher Teddy Rodliff was handed the loss as he tossed one inning and allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits. SBU was led at the plate by Cristian Montes, Michael Palazzolo and Michael Wilson, each recording two hits.
The Colonels travel to face Prairie View Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
