LORMAN, Miss. -- Following the team's second-straight loss this past Wednesday, the Nicholls State University women's soccer program (2-2-1, 0-0-0 Southland) aims to close out the non-conference schedule on a high note, traveling north on Friday, Sept. 13 for a contest at Alcorn State (0-4-0, 0-0-0 SWAC) before heading back to Louisiana for a matchup at Southern (0-3-0, 0-0-0 SWAC) on Sunday, Sept. 15 in Baton Rouge, La.
In the Colonels most-recent match at Louisiana-Lafayette, the usually aggressive offense stalled against a tough Ragin' Cajun backline, posting only one shot on the night. As the Red & Gray return to action over the weekend, the squad's forwards and attacking midfielders have set their sights on generating a high number of quality shots, highlighted primarily by seniors Blaire Laiche -- leads the team in goals (4), shots (14) and shots-on-goal (9) -- and Elisabet Gunnthorsdottir, who owns a team-high efficiency rating of .778 behind nine shots with seven coming on goal.
