FRISCO, Texas -- Wednesday morning, the Southland Conference announced Nicholls State University senior
Blaire Laiche as the league's Offensive Player of the Week, a first for the program this season. The senior forward posted a memorable performance in Sunday's 5-0 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, finding the back of the net three times as she secured the program's first hat trick since Jess Coates' triple-score showing against Southern early in the 2016 campaign.
Despite a shortened week due to a weather cancellation of Wednesday's match against Louisiana Tech, Laiche managed to spearhead a highly-efficient offensive attack in Sunday's shutout win, leading the squad in both shots (four) and shots-on-goal (four) as the Colonels outpaced the Lady Lions in every major statistical category. On an individual level, the senior's hat trick effectively doubled her career goal total, cementing her role up front after spending a majority of her time with the program primarily as a defender.
