THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University women's soccer head coach
Robert Podeyn announced Friday the 2023 game schedule which features nine home matches and 10 away contests.
After an exhibition home opener against Jones College, the Colonels kick off the season by hosting South Alabama and FIU in the Lester Bimah Battle on the Bayou at Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex on Thursday, Aug. 17, and Sunday, Aug. 20.
In the final weekend of August, the Red & Gray will head west Texas to battle Tarleton and Abilene Christian.
To begin September, the Colonels will host Jackson State on the 1st and Texas Southern on the 3rd. Then they will hit the road to take on in-state foe Louisiana Tech in Ruston on Sept. 7, battle Southern Miss in Hattiesburg on Sept. 10, and conclude the nonconference slate against Southern University in Baton Rouge.
Nicholls will open Southland Conference action on the road at Houston Christian on Sunday, Sept. 17.
The following Sunday, they return home to host McNeese to begin a three-match home stand. The Colonels will close out the month against Lamar on Sept. 29 and begin October against Texas A&M-Commerce on Oct.1.
The Red & Gray will cross state lines to battle UIW on Oct. 6 in San Antonio and then face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Oct. 8 in Corpus Christi.
The Colonels will return home to play the penultimate home match against HCU in the Cancer Awareness Game on Sunday, Oct. 15.
For the final two road games, Nicholls will travel to Commerce, Texas to take on Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday, Oct. 20 and fight with Southeastern for the Crystal Cup in Hammond on Sunday, Oct. 22.
The Colonels will celebrate Senior Day and conclude regular season competition against Northwestern State on Friday, Oct. 27.
