Nicholls T&F Ready for Keyth Tally Invitational

THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State track and field teams will compete in the 2024 Keyth Tally Invitational hosted by LSU in Baton Rouge on Saturday, March 23.
 
The field events from Bernie Moore Track Stadium will begin with the women's hammer throw at 9:30 a.m. and the action on the track will begin at 1 p.m. with the women's 400-meter relay.
 
The Red & Gray will be facing in state foes, Grambling, Louisiana, LA Tech, New Orleans, Northwestern State, Southeastern, Southern, and ULM. South Alabama and Wisconsin will cross state lines while Nike US Army and Tiger Olympians round out competition.
 
The Colonels are coming off a solid outdoor opener at the Louisiana Classics that saw multiple student-athletes record personal-bests and top 15 marks.

For the women's team, Senior Nia Maye hit her personal best in the 100m for the women's side with a time of 12.12 seconds, earning her 12th overall and giving her the seventh best mark in program history.  She also set a new personal record for the 200m of 24.81 seconds to land her 11th place and is the fifth best time in program history. Danya Satterfield ran the women's 100m hurdles in 15 seconds to claim the fifth best time in program history.
 
The women's 800m was a race full of success for the Colonels, with freshman Isabelle Seijhouwer placing ninth with a time of 2:27.03, and her classmate Issy Rivault coming in 10th (2:29.89). Sophia Harrison set a new personal record in the 800m of 2:32.57 to finish 12th. Two other freshmen who excelled this past weekend were Maria Nikolaou, who placed fifth overall in the 1500m and Kassidy Besson, who finished seventh, set personal best times of 4:47.65 and 4:50.28, respectively. In the field, Jinte Braas who came in 10th in the long jump recording a new personal best of 5.40m.
 
For the men's unit, Amari Godette ran a strong 100m race, finishing in fourth spot in 10.54 seconds. Gavin White also secured himself two top 10 finishes this weekend in both the 400m hurdles, finishing in 59.37 to claim 7th place, and the 110m hurdles in 15.64 seconds earning him 10th place. Junior Christopher Tucker had a great performance in the men's long jump, placing in 5th place with a distance of 6.98m. Gavin Windham threw a personal-best 50.20m in the javelin throw to place 11th. In the men's 800m, the first Colonel to cross the finish line was Nick Coonan-Bailey, who set a new personal record of 2:00.62, a time that saw him grab 15th place overall.
