THIBODAUX, La. – After winning five consecutive contests, the Nicholls State University baseball team looks to keep its momentum rolling as they host Jackson State and Xavier (La.) in mid-week contests on March 10 and 11. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
Nicholls (9-8, 3-2 SLC) is coming into the game on fire after beating Tulane and No. 10 Southern Miss during the week before taking the weekend series on the road against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
 
The Colonels' offense is spearheaded by Caston Thompson who has 25 hits including five home runs and 17 RBI. Leadoff hitter Keegan Giger is second on the team in hits (21) and RBI (16). Greyson Shafer has picked up his production as he has 13 hits including three homers and 11 RBI while Jaxon Milam has 14 hits and has scored 10 times.
 
The Colonel pitching staff has 171 strikeouts and a 5.78 ERA. Haden Luke leads the team with 22 strikeouts followed by Dawson Richard (21). Nuno Parache and Cole Simoneaux have 14 punchouts apiece while Joseph Bordelon has two saves and 13 strikeouts.
 
Jackson State (9-8) split four games last week. They began the week with a 6-11 loss at New Orleans before taking two out of three games against Seattle. The Tigers offense features three players with at least 20 hits. Robert Tate Jr. leads the way with 25 hits followed by Tyree Reed who has 24 and leads the team in batting average (.400). Pierre Cabral has 21 hits and a team high 17 RBI. Derek Arrocha and Kade Walker lead their pitching staff with 25 and 23 strikeouts respectively.
